Balaganapathi Devarakonda is presently Professor of Philosophy at University of Delhi, Delhi. His research interests are in the areas of Indian Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion, Social & Political Philosophy and Philosophical Practice. In addition to teaching and research, Prof. Bala is a certified Philosophical Counselor by American Philosophy Practitioners Association, New York. Some of. He is a Project Fellow of “Great Transition in India: A Korean Perspective on Indian Studies” by Institute of Indian Studies, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, South Korea (2021-2024). He is working on a project titled “Yoga Consciousness in Mahabharata: The Ethical value for societal/political Wellbeing” (SPARC, 2019-2021) and has completed a Major Funding research project (ICSSR) Culture through the Labyrinth of Globalization: A Study of Popular Imaginations and Alternative narratives of Digital and non-Digital Telugu literature (2017-19). He is serving as the Regional Coordinator (India) of Council for Research in Values and Philosophy, Washington DC.
Balaganapathi Guest edited the Special issue on Indian perspectives on Philosophical Counseling for the Journal of APPA Philosophical Practice (Vol 16, No. 1, 2021). He has been associated with the editorial boards of various journals such as; Journal of Human Values (Sage journals), Journal of Foundational Research, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur (2020 – till date); Journal of Indian Council of Philosophical Research, (Springer from 2016-2019); International Journal of Applied Ethics, an annual peer reviewed multidisciplinary journal published by Ramanujan College, Delhi (2017-18); Interdisciplinary Journal of Literature and Language Guest Editor, Special Issue on Intersections of Philosophy and Poetry (2017, published by Author press, New Delhi, India); Dravidian Studies, a Quarterly Research Journal of Dravidian University (2012-2016); Journal SOPHIA; The Berlin Journal of Philosophy and Hypatia: A Journal of Feminist Philosophy.
Professor Bala is presently a member of Research Project Committee of Indian Council of Philosophical Research, New Delhi. He was a Chancellor’s nominee for the Board of Management of Mohan Lal Sukhadia University, Udaipur (2018-2020). He was the Chairman of the Governing Body of Maitreyi College, New Delhi (2019-2020) and was a member of the Governing Body of Bhagini Nivedita College, New Delhi for the year 2020-2021. He was a member of the Review committee of Indian council of Philosophical Research constituted by MHRD, Government of India (2018).
